Well, I finally did it. Melted 1lb. of  good copper, combined it with 2oz. of aluminum and created this. An Aluminum Bronze mini skull.

Haven’t been able to weigh it yet, but I suspect that it weighs at least 5oz. and once the new website is online, will offer them for sale for $60.00. This one though will never be for sale. For it is the first one I’ve ever done in Bronze. And because like the last one it is a memorial piece. I also intend to use it and have it with me whenever I do E.V.P. sessions.

A couple days ago I finally melted some copper, as well as zinc and some aluminum and ended up with this.

It also has something very special inside, about 1oz of human cremains! Yes, you read it right, I added the ashes of an old friend that died 10 years ago. Now, the question is, would you pay for something like this for yourself or a loved one? Would you, upon your crossing over, providing you were cremated, want to be turned into a copper or bronze skull that your love ones could keep as a momento?

A certain asshole who shall remain nameless recently got ahold of me after 14 years. He had started out as a friend until he went off the deep end one night and took a club and came close to breaking my back, and then threatened Chipmunk and our 2 oldest, which were 10 and 1 1/2 at the time. I told him then to forget he ever knew me cause if the shit continued I would arrange him a meeting with God face to face. For the next 14 years I heard nothing from him and that was fine by me.

Then, about 2 months ago I hear from him through facebook. And responded only after being asked to by someone with their own “issues” from the past with him. So, last week, I cast this in Aluminum and announce that I would be doing a limited number of them in bronze.

it’s 2 ounces and was done via lost wax. So numb nuts orders 4 of them at $10 ea. I pointed out to him tonight in a facebook message that The money MUST BE PAID up front cause I ain’t no charity. He calls me, half drunk, claiming that I called him a charity case. Which I didn’t, Psycho, yes. Asshole, guilty. But not a charity case. Just like before, this moron, who claims he’s the “Greatest thing since white paint” or sliced bread, depending on his mood, is trying to tell me how to melt metal! Something hes never even freaking done in his misbegotten life!!

This asshole mentally abused his kids to the extent that the one hired someone to bash his brains out and afterwords told him that when he’s old and in a wheelchair she was going to put him in the middle of I-70 and leave his ass there!! He mentally abused one girlfriend to the point she committed suicide!! And he’s pissed because I want paid up front?  And the only reason why I’m doing the job is because the money will get me the crucible to use with bronze to begin with. And like I said, there are 4 others that want to “discuss” his past actions, including a hells angle and a former Army sniper. I just hope Karma allows me to have a front row seat when they finally catch up to the little bastard.

Well, finally got the propane and tried out the fire brick foundry I built. Did it work? Yes, melted the rest of the Aluminum I had. It also collapsed! The back was first, it both fell off and shattered as the foundry was in operation. The rest fell apart after it cooled down. Now, those bricks are rated at 2,000 F and the mortar at 2,500 so I’m assuming that the heat was way above that.

So, enter Foundry 2.5

It uses the original foundry whose bottom was melted the very first time I ever tried this, and the bricks from 2.0 as the cover as well as the base. Will fire it up for the first time in about an hour and see if I can finally do a copper melt.

In my last entry, I mentioned about basing some of the bronze pieces I want to do on soap molds. These are some of and even more detailed ones that I want to try.

$(KGrHqFHJEwE-uPPtU5hBPvt3MmZNw--60_57 51pMIzETpML il_570xN.328005028 il_570xN.410227363_ec1o il_570xN.432220478_shoi il_570xN.432239421_oaag il_570xN.432282694_4kiz il_570xN.508949569_jkgp

These are just some of the molds I want to try. They would only be about as big as a bar of soap mind you, which would mean that I would only charge $10.00 for them at the most. But they would be one of a kind pieces, for to my knowledge, these designs have never been cast in metal before. Like, haven’t you ever seen a bar of soap and said to yourself, “that’s to pretty to use”? Well with these, you wouldn’t need to make that choice.

Every backyard casting video you see all says that you need a foundry that has a refractory core wrapped in a steel casing. Which is why the one I built uses a steel bucket lined with a plaster/sand mix. But the link to the video below shows how a guy uses a simple ceramic blanket and a propane weed torch, mine runs on charcoal but I bought a weed torch last month for the new one, to reach the temp needed, 2,000 F, to melt 10lbs of Bronze in only 22 min! Could we all be making something that is really so simple, maintaining heat in a small space, so complicated? I had planned of buying a ceramic blanket, and I think before I go and buy all the other that a traditional propane foundry is built from, I will try this design. What have I got to lose?

I share these now simply because I feel that you all should see just what else I’m into. \

As you can see, my interests are very diverse and always have been. Counting my own personal face book page, I admin 5 by myself and co-admin one other. And between that and  actually creating things, that doesn’t give much time for a social life.

The closer it gets to May first the less I’ve been sleeping. I have my mind in high gear wanting to start on making foam models for future bronze castings as well as ordering the bronze to melt and I can’t do any of it until then. Yet I cannot get my mind on anything else but that. I have put so much time and effort into learning this, not to mention the cost, about $500 so far, that I want to get things into high gear and be doing it full time. If you have never worked with metal, it’s hard to explain. But with everything you cast, you get a feeling of knowing that whatever you just created will far outlive you and in a way, give you immortality. Just the few things that I have so far done I know will, as long as no one comes along and melts them down, still be here a hundred or more years from now. Nothing else that I have ever created has given me that same feeling of satisfaction.

I forgot to mention before, there is already a Facebook page set up, kustom kasting. It also has its own YouTube channel under the same name.

This was one of the first things that I cast. An aluminum foam Halloween skull that once I got done with it became a 3lbs skull if solid aluminum.
